Group Human Resources Manager
Smart Dental Care Group a Dental Care Provider with more than 30 Dental Practices across the North West of England, Northern Ireland, and Republic of Ireland.

- Provided a full HR service across the Group supporting delivery of services in all NHS, Private and Prison Based Practices
- Supported the Group with a significant restructure and ensuring compliance with TUPE requirements in a highly acquisitional business.
- Provided support through coaching to managers in addressing sickness absence issues, undertaking appraisals, managing disciplinary issues.
- Managed complex ER cases through to Employment Tribunal including, disciplinaries, grievances, absence, and redundancy.

- Managed the budget (including a significant Apprenticeship Levy) across all Group members using his Learning and Development Experience to ensure costs were controlled to deliver effective solutions.
- Re-focused, developed and managed the eLearning offering across the business working closely with content and system providers to address development needs. This included the implementation of a new eLearning offering to the whole Group.
- Recruited, established and managed a new Operational Training Team to address the needs of our Supply Chain operations.

- Led the Learning and Development team and the Technical Training team across the UK and Ireland.
- Ensured delivery of a comprehensive programme of employee training and development activity at all levels that supported the business strategy, met at least minimum legal requirements and developed people to perform.
- Undertook a large exercise to establish levels of compliance for core mandatory/legal training and developed a needs led Training Calendar to achieve compliance.

- Developed a “Grow Our Own” approach to development of staff to address attraction and retention issues providing opportunities for staff to grow in their roles.
- Ensured the competence and professional development of RMG Private and Public Sector employees through complete management of the learning and development function.
- Maximised his Learning and Development experience to design and execute a 70:20:10 L&D strategy, worked in partnership with the operational board, compliance director, and cross-functional managers to align L&D with the overall business plan.
- Collaborated with De Montfort University and developed the enhanced MSc Property Management for Property Managers, which enhanced organisation-wide leadership and strategic thinking skillsets.
- Increased effectiveness by collaborating with senior stakeholders and utilising his Learning and Development experience to design competency frameworks for key roles and implemented psychometric profiling to assess key behaviours and develop individual development plans.
- Delivered coaching training to managers across the organisation to focus management of people on performance improvement through re-enforcement of positive behaviours.

- Designed the L&D strategy and managed the L&D function for this communications solutions provider, and worked with stakeholders across multiple sites and functions.
- Developed and embedded management development, coaching, appraisals, absence management, recruitment, sales, and system training across six sites at trustee, executive, and manager levels.
- Improved the business-wide management practice and recruitment of managers through creation of a well-received leadership and management framework.
- Engaged managers in the creation of the framework and aligned it with business strategy to give line of sight to organisational aims.
- Used his Learning and Development experience to develop an Emerging Talent Programme which addressed attraction and retention of junior and mid-level managers.
- Positioned BSS to retain contracts valued at c. £13m by securing and retaining Investors in People (IiP), ISO, and other core people-focused accreditations required for bids.
- Led the scoping, design, delivery, and evaluation of tailored L&D solutions to support implementation and retention of major contracts for public, private, and third sector clients.
- Increased NVQ achievement rates from 29% to 99.2% in 12 months by overhauling NVQ delivery systems leading to client bonus payments of circa 5% of contract value.
- Delivered and secured tenders for contracts with values up to £7m, building collaborative client relationships to understand their needs and develop tailored solutions as part of matrix-based teams.
- Leveraged knowledge of IiP as a framework which supported the acquisition and integration of two businesses, successfully aligned cultures, processes and practices.
